"Playing God And Other Short Stories" was recorded at Harold Studios in Israel and mastered by UE Nastasi at the prestigious Sterling Sound NYC.
On the explanation of the album artwork for "Playing God And Other Short Stories", SALEM skinsman Nir Nakav states:
“The cover is based around Adinkra, a West African symbol system. The symbol we used is called Gye Nyame and it means "Except for God". This unique and beautiful symbol is ubiquitous in Ghana. It is by far the most popular for use in decoration and also a reflection on the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people."

Nir Nakav, Salem's drummer, has uplaoded to his personal MySpace page his own unique version of one of the first drum hits of the 60s "Wipeout" (originally recorded by the Surfaris and written in a flash by their drummer Ron Wilson). Spoken word is provided by Nir's son, Haim (4.5 years old).

The cover song "Ha'ayara Bo'eret" (The Town is on Fire) was written in 1928 and has since been identified with the holocaust.

The Salem tour that was scheduled for late October has been postponed. It'll most likely take place in March. Here's the email we got from our promotions department at System Shock.
Here?s just a short update as I talked to the booking agency. they now start the pre-booking with the clubs. The tour will take place in MARCH, from the beginning of march for at least 2 weeks, if they have good response it might become 3 weeks. The guy from the agency is feeling very positive about the tour because so far he got good reactions when he told the clubs that he will book salem soon. The tour will also feature MASTER so that?s a good point because I wanted to have Paul Speckmann on your tour anyway because he is very experienced with tour life in europe.
I hope these are good news for you!!!

Salem is happy to inform you all that Nir Gutraiman (guitar player with Lehavoth) has joined Salem for our up coming gigs. This is the first time since the departure of Giora Hirsh back in 1996 that Salem will go on stage with a second guitar reinforcement. The new material simply has great guitar harmonies that we couldn't hear it in our heads played on stage with only one guitar part.
We mastered the new album yesterday over at Haim Gozali's Master Disk and needless to say (after all the time and effort that went into the album) - we are very happy with the way it turned out. The material (including all the artwork) is on its way to Germany and we hope to have a release date to announce here very soon so stay tuned!!!
Collective Demise has enteted the last stages of production. Mixes will begin next week and will stretch over a period of approximately 3 weeks (including mastering). Cover art is also almost finished, samples will be posted in the near future.

Guitar work for the new album is finished also. In the next 2 weeks Salem will finish recording the material and be ready for mixing. More news are coming up very soon.
